Background
Predicted to enable channel activity; identical protein binding activity; and urea transmembrane transporter activity. Involved in glycerol transmembrane transport and water transport. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including renal water absorption; response to ischemia; and urea transport. Located in basolateral plasma membrane and cell-cell junction. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; capillary; early conceptus; genitourinary system; and sensory organ. Used to study nephrogenic diabetes insipidus. Orthologous to human AQP3 (aquaporin 3 (Gill blood group)).
